Taping segments of Creative Living with Sheryl Borden in New Mexico was a great experience! I travelled to Portales NM with a good friend. She got to watch behind the scenes and from the control room. Everyone connected with the show was warm and welcoming. Sheryl is delightful to work with and made me feel at ease.

Besides the usual concerns, hair wouldn't co-operate in the morning, last minute change in wardrobe which was a good thing as wearing a blouse and skirt made it much easier to place my mike and attach box to back of my waistband!

I had prepared stepouts for each of my four segments. As we finished one segment all the pieces were whisked away and the next set arranged on the table. Count down would go to three and then Sheryl would be cued by signal to begin. That moment I would take a deep breath ready to start. My intent was to make the demo of the project as clear as possible.

I was fortunate to demo projects for three sponsoring companies whose products I work with constantly, Westcott Brand Titanium steel scissors, Make it: Fun Styrofoam Brand Foam and National Nonwovens wool felt and Wool Wisps.

The segments will air next fall on 118 PBS stations in four countries. I will have the segments on You-Tube in a couple weeks along with the instructions for the projects. Below are some photos that were taken before each segment began while we were setting up. I am very grateful for the experience, to Sheryl and the KEN-W crew for making it as easy and enjoyable as possible!

Early this morning I am off to tape segments of Creative Living with Sheryl Borden in Portales, New Mexico. This has been a whirlwind trip from CHA in Anaheim to flying to Albuquerque to prepare for show. Stepouts and instructions are ready. Outfit planned, no black and white so I chose a colorful dress to wear!

I am a little nervous and very excited to be showing techniques and designs featuring my sponsors, Westcott Brand, Makeitfun Crafts and National Nonwovens. I appreciate their support very much to be able to offer crafty and sewing inspiration!  Projects and instructions coming soon!

Meanwhile here is a sneak peak behind my scenes, my exploding suitcase and my entourage and assistant Fox the cat, I couldn't have prepared without his invaluable assistance!

The colors of fall are a rich crimson array of shades and hues, swirling leaves and crisp lively days. The color of October is also pink, Breast Cancer Awareness month. This month's Designer Crafts Connection Blog Hop is sponsored by  Westcott Brand® Cutting Tools. We were challenged to use Westcott Brand pink tools in creating a design incorporating
Duck Brand® Duct Tape and VELCRO® Brand Hook and Loop Fasteners . Westcott titanium steel non-stick scissors are ideal when working with adhesive products.

Several of the designers involved in the hop have donated their projects to be auctioned off with Charity Wings for the Breasr Cancer Awarenss Foundation, http://www.charitywingsnews.blogspot.com/2011/10/westcott-brand-and-friends-auction-for.html Westcott Brand has a fabulous giveaway for DCC blog hoppers, A Deluxe wonderful designs for a great cause. Please check it out.

Assortment of Westcott Cutting Tools (assortment may vary, US Residents only). All you have to do to be eligible to enter is comment on the DCC Blog Hop Post prior to November 1st. You can also visit Westcott Brand on Facebook.

Now for the design! There is a Wild Gal in every woman and inspired by the Duck Brand hot pink zebra print I created a ruffled belt and pin. I was travelling while creating this design and it was a very portable project to work on. Westcott Brand Scissors, a roll of Pink Duck Brand Tape and a Roll of Zebra Print, Velcro Brand Closures.

How to:
Outer Flower- With adhesives sides of duck tape rolls facing and aligned begin rolling together. Measure and cut 3'. Begin snipping along strip to 1/4". Roll. Use a 1" circle of tape to adhere bottom of flower.
Inner Flower- Repeat as for outer flower rolling tape together for an 18" length. Fold in half lengthwise. Begin snipping through layers at fold to 1/4".

Finish snipping length and then roll for center of flower. Insert in center of outer flower adhering with Velcro Brand dots. Affix a pin back to end of outer flower.

Belt instructions to follow tomorrow, now get hopping with our DCC button in the right sidebar and see all of the amazing projects created using Westcott Brand® Cutting Tools

Westcott Brand has generously sponsored CHA Designers in an exciting and fun opportunity to showcase their designs in the Westcott booth at the upcoming summer 2011 CHA Show in Rosemont, July 18-21st.

Keeping with Westcott Brand's charitable theme, this opportunity is also a fundraiser whereby the featured projects will be auctioned in an effort to raise contributions for CharityWings.org a non-profit foundation and "place for creative minds who want to give TM."

Along with Westcott, the Duck Tape Brand and Velcro Brand are also sponsors. The challenge is to use these products along with at least three more when creating a home decor or fashion item n larger than 12" square.

I decided to make an outdoor decor pillow as Duck Tape is weatherproof. I made it two sided using Velcro products to have a removeable flower on one side and a button tic tac toe game on the other. It was a fun project and really my first time designing something with Duck Tape. The sheets were easy to use with the grid lines on back and the Westcott cutting tools .

I embellished the pillow using a hole punch and hotfix pearl marble studs.
