My work is an integral part of who I am, it is a passion that I love to share with others. I always strive to produce the best designs I can, be flexible and easy to work with as well as timely and respectful. I believe Creativity is a gift that is as necessary to life as breathing and a lot more fun! I am grateful each and everyday to be able to share & inspire others through my designs. Debra, CEO! And here is the official scoop! Debra Quartermain, CEO! Creative Eternal Optimist shares her enthusiasm for creativity through books, magazines, print ads, project sheets and manufacturer product developement. Teaching, consulting or demonstrating her goal is to always inspire and motivate everyone's creative spirit! Her main areas of expertise are creating whimsical characters, fashion & home decor accessories. Her desiigns and articles have appeared in hundreds of magazines, Creative Homearts, Crafts n' Things, Creative & Decorate, Country Sampler, Quilting Treasures, Bead Unique.
Always on the lookout for an opportunity to reclaim anything, she can fashion something out of nothing and create fabulous upcycled style! Her book Sweatshirt Remix a sequel to SWEATSHIRTS upcycles ties, tea towels, old sweatshirts into stylish jackets and coats! A variety of structure techniques create well fitting attractive garments in styles for different body types. Other books include Easy-to-Sew Playful Toys also translated into Polish and Nursery Decor her first book with Krause Publications an imprint of F+W Media. She has also been published in several collaborative books and smaller booklets for manufacturers.
Debra and her illustrator partner Deborah Peyton in PQexpressions! designed two children's quilting fabric lines based on toys from Easy-to-Sew for Northcott. Licensed patterns with Butterick/McCalls and her own pattern line of soft characters under the name Homespun Treasures was sold in seventeen countries.
Debra wriote a regular column Make it Green for Today's Creative Homearts magazine. A member of CHA Designer section she has headed up several designer displays for the major winter show and is also a member of the Designer Conduct Team and L+D Advisory Board. Debra exhibits in the License + Design section of the CHA winter show winning Excellence in Exhibit Award in 2009 along with Marie Browning. In 2008 Debra received the Paul G. Harris Volunteer Award for "her resourcefulness and creativity." In 2007 the University of NB in Saint John named the yearbook after her "the Quartonian" in honor of her being the first editor on campus. Volunteering is an important part of her life and she is involved in her local community with Women in Business, Harvest Jazz & Blues.
Debra lives in a small city in NB Canada near her two darling daughters.
